STOP-DWI New York Awards Recognition - Nominations Open

Each year STOP-DWI New York accepts nominations from all across New York State to recognize and thank law enforcement and community members who work tirelessly to keep our New York State roads safe from impaired drivers and also to those who work to prevent underage drinking.

STOP-DWI New York partnering with the NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services, Division of State Police and the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee host a luncheon in honor of impaired driving crash victims.

Awards are presented in three categories:

  • The Law Enforcement Officer Award is presented to any Law Enforcement Officer who was actively on a Police Agency roster during the year 2018.
  • The Law Enforcement Agency Award is presented to any Law Enforcement Agency in New York State.
  • The Non-Enforcement Person or Agency Award is presented to any non-police person (Prosecutors and Probation employees fit in this category) or any non-police agency or business.

New York’s STOP-DWI program is the Nations’ first and, to date, only self-sustaining impaired driving program. Other States have implemented components of self-sufficiency, but none to the degree of New York State.
