Sheriff Ron Spike has had a career in law enforcement with the Yates County Sheriff’s Office dating back to the early 1970s. Coincidentally, his father served as Sheriff in the county from 1958 to 1981.
In Sheriff Spike’s career, he has held many honors and achievements, some of which include: being a certified Police Instructor, Chairman of the NYS Municipal Police Training Council, and Past President of the New York State Sheriff’s Association (NYSSA).
His retirement is particularly important because he has been the STOP-DWI Coordinator for Yates County.
Sheriff Spike will be missed in his role in educating the public about safe and sober driving, and guiding the next generation of police officers who protect and serve the community.
In December 2023, he was honored by Rossana Rosado, Commissioner of NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services. We wish him a well-deserved and happy retirement after a rewarding career in law enforcement and public safety.
