On 10/17/14, the Ontario County STOP-DWI program hosted a booking signing of Marianne Angelillo’ s book, “Sharing My Stones” to kick off National Teen Driver Safety Week and Red Ribbon Week. In attendance were Ontario County Sheriff Philip Povero, Ontario County Chairman of the Board of Supervisors Jack Marren, Ontario County Youth Bureau representative Kari Wilferth and STOP-DWI Administrator
Several years ago the New York State STOP-DWI Association, Inc. launched the “STOP-DWI Crackdown Weekends.” The theory behind this initiative is that by better coordinating and promoting county efforts we can achieve greater visibility of DWI enforcement activities in New York State.
As part of the two-month project, the teens participated in interactive seminars about the facts, choices and consequences of DWI, which included drunk driving simulations and a talk by a DWI offender. The students were profoundly influenced by his story, and incorporated into the mural a representation of the Phoenix he had a tattoo on his arm, representing his fall and recovery.
ALBANY, N.Y. -- Troopers issued more than 46,000 tickets to drivers during a crackdown that ended Monday and focused on drunken driving and speeding.
