Call for “MADD STOP‐DWI Recognition Award” Nominations

Nominations are now being accepted for the “MADD STOP‐DWI Recognition Awards” in categories for individual police officers, enforcement agencies, STOP‐DWI Coordinators and other individuals or agencies that have made a significant contribution to reducing the incidence of drunk driving within the state. The awards will be presented on May 18, 2016 in Albany.

Police officers, STOP‐DWI Coordinators and public safety professionals … don’t miss this chance to nominate a dedicated officer, an outstanding police agency, a unique enforcement strategy or an outstanding program that has had success in reducing impaired driving in your community.

Since 1995, New York State highway safety partners have proudly hosted an annual recognition event to present awards acknowledging outstanding efforts and achievements in deterring impaired driving. This recognition program is supported by member agencies of the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee, the NYS STOP‐DWI Association & Foundation and Mothers Against Drunk Driving.

Nominations are now being accepted for the “MADD STOP‐DWI Recognition Awards” in categories for individual police officers, enforcement agencies, STOP‐DWI Coordinators and other individuals or agencies that have made a significant contribution to reducing the incidence of drunk driving within the state. The awards will be presented on May 18, 2016 in Albany.

In award deliberation, special consideration will be given to those individuals or departments who created an innovative approach, unique enforcement strategy, or who have developed a program that has had a positive impact from January 1, 2015 — December 31, 2015.

The criterion for each award category is outlined on nomination forms which are available to download from SafeNY.ny.gov (direct web address below). The endorsement of your county STOP‐DWI Coordinator will strengthen your application. Please take a moment to nominate an agency or individual you know that deserves one of these awards. The categories are as follows:

Law EnforcemenAgencAward: This award highlights a law enforcement agency’s efforts in deterring drunk driving. Agency command must endorse the nomination on behalf of the department. Awards segmented by department size.

Individual OfficeAward: This award recognizes the contribution of an individual law enforcement officer’s. The nomination is to be submitted by the agency command. More than one officer from an agency may be put forward, please use one form per nomination. Awards are segmented by department size.

Non‐Enforcement ContributioAward: This award recognizes civilian individuals or agencies who have made a significant contribution to reducing the incidence of impaired driving within the New York state. Any STOP­DWI coordinator, police agency, traffic safety professional or MADD chapter may nominate an individual or agency for this category.
