The New York Highway Safety Symposium attracts more than 350 professionals from local, state, federal and private agencies who are involved in the effort to reduce deaths and injuries related to traffic crashes. These professionals attend the symposium to exchange information on current activities and new developments on the promotion of injury prevention programs. Such past topics have included STOP-DWI activities dealing with prevention, enforcement, prosecution, treatment, education and probation. Injury prevention presentations have included enforcement, education, aggressive driving, child passenger safety, bicycle and pedestrian safety, as well as numerous presentations on related injury prevention programming. Speakers have presented on programs, grants, legislative issues, data and statistics, as well as effective local, state, and federal initiatives.
