On Monday, December 14, 2015, the Allegany County STOP-DWI Office sponsored the Annual Cookies and Wassail Day.  This event is held to remind individuals that fun holiday events can be held without providing alcohol.

There is a pressing need in New York for a law that makes the penalty for fleeing serious accidents just as harsh as the penalty for causing such accidents while impaired. As it stands, the disparity in penalties is so large that it encourages fleeing, which can mean delays in medical treatment for victims because accidents are not reported quickly.

The Governor has signed legislation that would require a defendant subject to the Ignition Interlock requirement to maintain the interlock device during the period of any declaration of delinquency for a violation of probation, and would authorize the court to extend the period of the condition by the period of the delinquency.  Defendant will, however, receive credit for any period where the device is actually installed and maintained during the delinquency period.

Poughkeepsie… The Dutchess County STOP-DWI Planning Board today honored seven law enforcement officers as “TOP COPS” at the 21st Annual Dutchess County STOP-DWI Program’s Law Enforcement Awards Luncheon held at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel in the City of Poughkeepsie. The event honors police officers from throughout Dutchess County for their commitment and contributions to the STOP-DWI Program’s mission.
