Washington County STOP-DWI Coordinator, Undersheriff Matthew Mabb will retire with the close of 2011. Undersheriff Mabb has been in law enforcement for 32 years and STOP-DWI Coordinator for 16 years.

Paul R. Stoner (Rick) an 18 year veteran of the Oswego County STOP-DWI Program is slated to retire at the close of business on December 30, 2011. Rick was involved in many successful programs in the effort to ensure safety of the folks traveling the roads in Oswego County. One of the most noteworthy is a program targeting underage offenders called “Project U-Turn.”

According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, January 1 is among the top five deadliest days on America’s roadways. During the holiday season, local law enforcement agencies statewide will be out in force, utilizing sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols, to deter drunk driving. Motorists are reminded that driving with blood alcohol content of 0.08 or higher will put them over the legal limit—if they don’t drive sober, they will get pulled over.
